The Immigration and Citizenship Office has made public the complete statistics about the 1,291 asylum-seekers granted the right to live in Hungary last year.

Of that total, 106 were granted refugee status, 1,100 protected status and 75 as admitted people.

The statistics reveal that 1,781 people with refugee status and 1,774 with protected status had Hungarian identification documents late last year, a total of 3,555.

A total of 3,347 asylum seekers from outside Europe arrived in Hungary in 2017, among them 1,432 Afghans, 812 Iraqis and 577 Syrians.

Nearly 59,000 people applied for a residence permit, with nearly half of them seeking a job.

The authorities ordered expulsion of 678 people, most of them Ukrainians. Another 468 people were deported to their original domicile, most of them being Pakistanis and Serbs.
