Most Hungarians favour euthanasia, abortion



Some 71% of Hungarians support euthanasia, according to a poll conducted by Závecz Research in co-operation with Index website.

Only 21% oppose it and 6% did not express an opinion.

Abortion is backed by even more people, as 78% of the respondents said a woman has the right to make such a decision. Of those polled, 19% rejected it and 3% would not or could not answer the question.

Regarding capital punishment, 24% of the respondents would approve it unconditionally, a further 52% would approve it in the event of a severe crime while 21% would oppose it. Three percent declined to respond.
