Echo TV reporters banned from House

Three reporters from Echo TV have been banned from Parliament and its office building, Parliament’s press office announced on Wednesday.

This is rather strange, Index observes, as the TV channel has been owned by Felcsút mayor and entrepreneur Lõrinc Mészáros since December.

The press office said the Echo TV crew repeatedly and deliberately ignored the Speaker’s instructions.

According to his decree, taping scenes in the corridors and restaurants of Parliament is off limits to the media, lest reporters “disturb the work of parliamentary caucuses and the Office of Parliament.”

Echo TV is suspended until the end of the autumn session.
