Totalcar launches car repair database

Totalcar has launched a publicly accessible database on the repair history of used cars, which is maintained by input from insurance companies and official car maintenance shops, the car industry website announced on Thursday.

Some 20 years’ worth of reported data on used cars, obtained via numbers engraved on the chassis, is available.

Checking available data is free but Totalcar charges Ft 3,990 for a damage history download.

Data also include the value for repair estimated by insurance companies.

Totalcar warns that the database is not complete as it does not include foreign history and old values attributed for repairs are outdated.

Sources regularly consulted, with abbreviations used in text: Népszabadság (N); Magyar Hírlap (MH); Világgazdaság (VG); Napi Gazdaság (NG); Magyar Nemzet (MN); Népszava (Nsz); Kossuth Rádió news (KR); nightly TV news (TV).
