Massive oil spill flows down Danube

A massive oil spill flowed down the Budapest section of the Danube at around 7.30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Index reports.

The report was later confirmed by the disaster response authority.

It is not known what caused the spill, but disaster response staff were working on the matter at the Kopaszi dam, on the Buda riverside.

Traces of the oil spill were still visible in Budapest shortly before noon.
