Magyar Posta shedding 300 jobs

Magyar Posta will lay off 300 people in the spring as part of its drive to streamline its operations, the company announced on Monday.

The company informed the work councils of its plans prior to deciding on the job cuts, which will affect the administrative staff.

In positions where there is a shortage of labour, such as logistics and couriers, there will be no change in staff numbers.

Last summer, the company announced the elimination of 100 jobs, also in the management and administrative areas.

As a universal postal service provider and a competitor in the private sector, Magyar Posta needs to operate efficiently, as it cannot obtain state financing for its operations, the company said.
