Affidea opens health centre for men

Private health care diagnostic services provider Affidea yesterday opened its Ft 100 million Affidea for Men health centre on Sasadi út in Budapest’s 11th District.

The centre offers a broader range of services for men than is usual in Hungary, said CEO György Leitner.

Revenues this year will be around Ft 10 billion, similar to last year, Leitner forecast.

About half of the revenue comes from state health insurers to finance imaging diagnostics, another 33% from corporate health care and the rest from private patients.

Leitner said 4,000 new prostate cancer patients are registered annually in Hungary and 1,300 die from it, making it the leading form of cancer among men.

Patients in Hungary tend to turn to doctors too late, Leitner warned.
