Radio station licenses not extended

The Media Council (NMHH) has declined to renew the frequency contracts of commercial radio stations Sláger FM and Music FM, citing “serious legal violations,” it was announced on Friday.

The NMHH held Sláger FM to account for several serious violations of rules on the protection of children, rejecting its request to renew rights to use the 103.9 MHz frequency in Budapest.

Music FM, which uses the 89.5 MHz frequency in the city, also broke rules on the protection of children, failed to comply with data provision rules and was late paying its media service fees.
