Police uncover Italian airport thieves

Hungarian police have helped to expose Italian airport thieves while trying to detect thievery by baggage handlers in Budapest.

Police attempted to send a suitcase with numbered banknotes in it from Rome to Budapest. However, the money did not arrive in Budapest, as it was stolen in Rome.

Apart from the police baggage, a further nine items of luggage were looted by thieves at the Rome airport.

Detectives viewed recordings by security cameras in Budapest and saw that the suitcases had not been opened in Ferihegy.

Budapest Police then contacted Italian authorities, who found the valuables and cash stolen by Italian baggage handlers. Italian police launched proceedings against two employees of Rome’s airport.
