Diesel scandal victims plan court plea

Car news website Autó has begun to organise a group of victims of the 2015 diesel emissions scandal for joint court representation.

After the scandal caused by the manipulated pollution tests of cars produced by the Volkswagen group, the manufacturer paid damages to car owners in the US.

The Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen cars in question emitted 40 times more pollution than the official ceiling.

The group will turn to court only if it gains 500 or more members. Membership applicants to the group must pay a Ft 3,000 registration fee.

According to Autó website editor Péter Surányi, some 50,000 affected cars are running in Hungary and the group will have sufficient strength if it has more than 3,000 members.
