Gov’t sues Wizz Air over delays

The Budapest Government office is suing Wizz Air, accusing the low cost airline of violating consumers’ rights, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Thursday.

“The airline’s practice of ruining the holidays of dozens of passengers cannot be tolerated,” said PMO head Gergely Gulyás and public service state secretary Bence Tuzson.

Most Wizz Air fights departed hours behind schedule on Thursday.

In one instance, the airline could not carry all 230 passengers who had valid tickets to Stockholm, because the aircraft had only 180 seats, Index learned from passengers.

Wizz Air said there were problems with the check-in system.
