More road accidents this year

The number of road accidents in which people were injured came to 6,289 in the first five months, a 13% year-on-year increase, drivers’ news website Vezess reports, citing police data.

So far this year, 229 persons were killed in road accidents, up from 218 a year ago.

Excessive speed is responsible for 32% of the accidents, police said.

The newly established high speed violation control system called Véda has not proved to be successful, despite its Ft 15 billion cost, Vezess concluded.
