Hungarian movie selected for Cannes Critics Week

Movie director Zsófia Szilágyi’s first feature Egy nap (One Day) has been selected for screening at the Cannes Critics Week, a sidebar event to the Cannes film festival, which is devoted to first and second features.

Directors including Ken Loach or Alejandro González Inarritu were discovered at the Cannes Critics Week, HVG noted.

Szilágyi’s movie makes an attempt at presenting a day in the life of a woman in a hyperrealist way, without cutting details that are usually judged to be boring. The protagonist hurries through her day, to work, to school, takes her children to training while her marriage is in ruins and her husband finally cheats on her.
