Ryanair flies to Santander from Budapest

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has launched a direct flight to Santander, Spain, from Budapest, the airline announced on Monday.

There will be two flights weekly from the Hungarian capital to the northern Spanish holiday resort, the capital of Cantabria.

Santander will be the 11th Spanish destination served from Budapest. It has connections to Gijón and Bilbao, therefore, the flights will also serve passengers flying there.

Spain will spend €6.6 million on the development of Santander’s Seve Ballesteros airport by 2021, Spanish Minister of Public Works Ínigo de la Serna said at the announcement ceremony.

Last year some 170,000 tourists arrived in Hungary from Spain, up 20% form the previous year, said Enikő Győri, Hungary’s ambassador in Madrid.
