Cluj-Napoca express railway confirmed

An express railway line will be built between Budapest and Cluj-Napoca as part of Hungarian-Romanian co-operation, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó confirmed at the Hungarian Railway 2017 conference on Tuesday, repeating his statement made in Cluj-Napoca on Monday.

This line will be part of a Budapest-Bucharest express link, he highlighted.

No details were given about the planned route and finances, HVG added.

Szijjártó noted that the government has earmarked Ft 1.5 trillion for railway modernisation by 2020, including the renewal of 900km of track.
