Ferihegy failed security audit – Márton

Ferihegy airport has been downgraded to the “unclear” category after objects that should have been screened passed through security checks in an undercover EU audit, air traffic ministerial commissioner Attila Márton said at a government press conference yesterday.

While this theoretically entails frequent security checks, this is at the discretion of each airport, so in practice only around 10% of passengers may be affected, he added.

Ferihegy can regain its status in three months or half a year at the most if it properly carries out its duties, Márton added.

As the state air traffic controller should be separated from the traffic authority NKH, so that audits meet the EU norms, Márton has already made a proposal on this matter.
