Misuse of funds suspected at Duna TV

The suspicion of misuse of funds has arisen in connection with two production contracts concluded by Duna TV, the supervisory body of Hungária Television Public Foundation, which oversees state-run television, announced on Thursday.

The contracts for two outside productions with See Walker Television and Jadedragon specified nearly Ft 258 million more for the programmes than was due for what the companies actually supplied.

The supervisory body said president László Cselényi, who initialled the contracts, caused unnecessary and unjustified surplus spending.

Fidesz board of trustees member László Szabó told Magyar Hírlap on Thursday that he will take “the necessary steps” with other Fidesz and Christian Democrat board members unless the board decides to file a report when it meets on Monday.
